Acne is a problem with several treatments, but with oft-reported adverse effects. If you can control a bacteria laden skin and a stress laden head then everything can be fine, but if your hormone levels, flood you then very few chemical treatments can rescue you.
There are acne treatments that are reported to shrink your sebaceous glands, damage liver, cause pain and even lead you to depression. An article suggests you to use salicylic acid or alpha hydroxy acids, which act as an exfoliant and takes out the dead cells. However if the use of salicylic acid or alpha hydroxy acids causes irritation then you should prefer a mix and match of therapy under the prescription of your dermatologist.
Are all acne treatments safe?

I have gone through two cycles Accutane (several years ago when I was in my mid-teens). I never really had bad acne, but was still able to get the medication. Overall, I think it was worth it, although dealing with irritated skin/lips became annoying. Thankfully, that was really the only side effect I had to deal with.
